I received a call one day from then Executive Director of Heritage Humane Society Robin Bledsoe. Robin explained a shelter in Alabama lost its funding and was forced to close on short notice. Heritage doesn’t usually accept animals from other locals but this was an emergency. Robin agreed to take in 14 puppies. The problem was how to get them to Virginia.

I put out a plea to other pilots and within 2 days we had 3 planes to do the daisy chain flight to Virginia. The first pilot took them from Alabama to Atlanta, The next from Atlanta to Greensboro, NC where I met them and flew the pack to Williamsburg. Robin reported all were quickly adopted.

Meet Simon.

He was found in a awful shelter in rural Georgia covered in fleas and ticks. He also had a terrible case of mange and an infection from a dog bite. Simon looked ancient but turns out he was only 2. After two months of healing he still showed the effects of the mange but was cleared to fly. This sweet red Dobe has been adopted to wonderful family and spends his days romping with his siblings.
